Parenthood
Parenthood can be a challenging phase for all involved. Each developmental stage of a child, or teenager, may come with a different set of difficulties.
Parents of young children may be overwhelmed with the task in hand, lost in a never-ending cycle of chores, sleepless nights and constant demands. One can end up feeling losing their self in the process. This can leave a feeling of missing one's bearings. The parent then can feel not grounded and unsure about how to proceed, or how to do things. Self confidence in parenting skills can be eroded, leading to a vicious cycle of doubt. Therapy can aid in untangling any unnecessary processes, bringing clarity and focus to the child care, so that the parent can do this while enjoying their children's early years and having fun with them.
In secondary school, children face a whole different cohort of new situations, both internal and external that may lead to turmoil. A change in school, the prospect of new friends, puberty, sexual orientation, neurodiversity can be very few of the many issues that teenagers can experience. Supporting them in a calm and assured way is of paramount importance and counselling can play a pivotal role in enabling the parent(s) to be there for their children.
Increasingly nowadays, young adult and adult children may rejoin the family home, after the experience of university, or whilst trying to save money. At times, this can lead to imbalance and change in the family, or the couple's dynamics.
Therapy can be very useful in helping you navigate through any changes, or difficulties, in an effective way.
